ADDRESS BY DR. J. DICKIE
An address was given by Dr. J. Dickie, principal of Knox College, "Dunedin, last night to the Auckland branch of the Australasian Association of Philosophy and Psychology. Professor W. Anderson presided. Dr. Dickie's address was devoted to an exposition of the views of the German theologian, Dr. 11. Otto, on the relation of the rational and irrational in religion, as expressed in his book "The Idea of the Holy," and an explanation of his claim that there was an irreducible element in all religion incapable of purely intellectual analysis. If this was true, then it had been proved that religion was a distinct form of experience entitled to a place among the other functions oir the human mind.
