WELLINGTON, Wednesday Allegations were made by the police against Marcus Jackson, aged 38, a salesman, at tho Police Court to-day, that ho obtained a large sum of money from a clerk —already serving a term of reformative detention for theft from his employers—by posing as a jockey and persuading him to give him inonoy for racecourse transactions. Jackson pleaded not guilty. It was alleged that on April 15 and July 19 Jackson obtained £2lO from George Diack by representing that ho was Tommy Green, a licensed jockey, and that he was entering business as a racehorse trainer; that he had arranged to buy two horses named Moss Vale and Bronze Lady for Diack and that ho needed the money to pav for feed, etc. Diack, in giving evidence, said that ho had told accused that ho had not been successful with racing, and that, in fact, he was "in the cart" thrpugh it. Accused assured him that he could get him out of it. Diack related a scries of negotiations and subsequent business relations with Jackson, who posed as Green. In all, witness said, he paid accused £2lO.

Accused was committed to tho Supremo Court for trial, bail being renewed.
