ORPHANS LADIES' NIGHT
BIRKENHEAD AND NORTHCOTE The ladies' nip;lit of the 12th session of the Birkenhead and Northcote Orphans' Club, held on Saturday in the Buffalo Hall, at Birkenhead, was a most successful evening and was thoroughly enjoyed by the large gathering. Arum lilies and spring flowers were arranged about the room, in which a bright log fire bla/.ed. The president, Mr. G. B. Chinnery, welcomed the gathering and installed the past president, Dr. J. W. Craven, as the chairman for the evening.
The orchestra, under Mr. J. H. Reich, played the overtures, "The Red Gnome" (T. M. Rollinson) and "The Caliph of Bagdad" (A. Boieldieu), "The Pythian March" (C. S. Morrison) ami "The Skaters' Waltz" (E. Waldteufel). Mr. R. H. F. Grace mystified the spectators with displays of his magical skill. Songs by Mr. J. O'Malley were also greatly appreciated. Dancing followed, the iioor arrangements being in the charge of the secretary, Mr. J. ». Hollows. The music was played by the club's orchestra, with Mr. J. H. Reich at the piano.
