ball at morrinsville The Civic Theatre, Morrinsville, was filled for the masked fancy-dress ba promoted by the social committee of the Morrinsville Oddfellows Lodge Artistic and original costumes in great varietv and masks were worni by most of those present. The lighting and decoration of the ballroom ira. earned out on ambitious lines with the ettec tive use of strings of coloured electric lamps. Music was by a local orchestra, the members of which were in Pierrot costume. Messrs W. M. Smith, D. Fraser and J. Milton were in charge of floor arrangements. The supper was in the hands of thc la(l ' Cb of the committee. A difficult task cor fronted Mesdames J. J. Seales and L. H. Lamer in judging the costumes. The awards were: —Ladies costumes. Best, Miss T. Smith (Valentine); most original, Miss M. Chapman (stork), men's costumes: Best, Mr. E. J. Hewi son (Bed Shadow); most original, Miss M. Landy (Mephistopheles)! cou e|f®Best, Mr. F. Hermes and Miss Bennett (Viennese officer and lady); most original, Messrs. J. Bobson and D. Bradley (swaggers).
