MEETING AT RANDWICK WIN FOR SPORTING BLOOD GAY BLONDE RUNS THIRD (Received September 15, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 15 A largo number of New Zealand and Now Zealand-bred horses competed at Tattersall's Club races at Randwick yesterday. Sporting Blood was the only successful one, winning the Spring Handicap. Gay Blonde ran third in the Tramway Handicap. The weather was line, but after three days' light rain the course was a trifle holding. Sylvandale scored impressively in the principal event, the Chelmsford Stakes, Contact and Rogilla, although badly away, finished brilliantly for second and third respectively. Homer and Latharna were prominent to the home turn and the latter did best of the younger horses, finishing fourth. Lough Neagh unwound a withering run in the straight to win the Tramway Handicap by four lengths from King's Head, with Gay Blonde a length and a-half away third. Dark Sky was fourth, Grand Sport eighth and Synagogue, who faded at the home turn, tenth. Gay Blonde's debut in Australia was impressive, as she had anything but the best of the running. J. E. Pike, rider of Synagogue, said the horse did not relish the heavy going and went most unkindly after striking a particularly bad patch. Sporting Blood finished so determinedly and strongly to win the Spring Handicap that he gained a host of admirers for coining engagements. The New Zealand jockey L. J. Ellis won the Welter Handicap on Narbethong and his brother A. E. Ellis ran third on Seratchmero Scar. Cherry King and Golden Chance were up with the leaders to the turn, where Narbethong came through with a burst of speed and won easily. Cherry King finished fourth, Golden Chance eighth and Viceroy last. Results:—
