EX-SOLDIERS' GATHERING
THE FIELD ENGINEERS The 10th annual reunion of the New Zealand Field Engineers, N.Z.E.F., was held on Saturday night, when an attendance of over 150 members from all parts of the Auckland. Province was presided over by Mr. N. L. Higginson, of Okoroire. A brief address on his recent visit to the battlefields of France and Belgium was given by Mr. D. M. Rae, and Mr. A. A. Curry described a trip to Gallipoli. Toasts honoured included those of the King; New Zealand Engineers, proposed by Captain H. Sharpe and replied to by Colonel L. M. Shera; "Fallen Comrades," proposed by Mr. M. K. Draflßn; " Navy, Army, Air Force," proposed by Mr. Higginson, and replied to by Commander Willett, Captain W. Murphy and Mr. W. McKillop; " Our Visitors," proposed by Mr. S. T. Carter, and responded to by Captain Rae; " R.5.A.," proposed by Mr. H. McIlroy and replied to by Mr. H. Mildon; and " The Aussies."
Songs were sung during tho evening by Messrs. R. New ling, L. Stewart, and A. H. Turner, while Messrs. R. Cooke, H. Warbrirk and R. Harris also gave items. Mr. W. Pursell was at the piano.
On behalf of the members the president presented an engraved dressingcase to Mr. Carter, who has been secretary of the organisation for tho past seven years
