GOLDMINING DISPUTE
DEADLOCK AT WAIHI P' OHINEMURI UNION'S ACTION r [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] WAIHI, Tuesday Since the ballots taken on the right to strike, as provided for by the Labour Disputes Investigation Act, 1913, following the failure of the Martha Gold Mining Company (Waihi), Limited, and its employees to arrive at a basis for a new industrial agreement, the parties to the dispute have made no direct move toward bringing about a settlement of the trouble. It is, however, understood that the Ohinemuri Mines and Batteries Union, of the sub-unions involved, has placed its case in the hands of the New Zealand Alliance of Labour, and it seems probable that there will be a further development in the course of the next few days, as the secretary of the Miners' Union, Mr. W. Bice, left for Wellington to-day, his mission being to meet the secretary of the alliance, Mr. J. Roberts, and discuss with him matters pertaining to the dispute.
