MISSIONARY AUXILIARY

Members from the various branches of tho Auckland Methodist Women's Missionary Auxiliary assembled in the Pitt Street schoolroom on Monday afternoon for the 27th annual meeting. After the devotional exercises, the president, Mrs. A. White, referred to the passing of Mrs. George Pearce, a foundation member, who through the intervening years had been a faithful supporter of the auxiliary. As a tribute of sympathy with tho relatives, the members stood for a few moments in silence. Mrs. White warmly welcomed Sister Mabel Morely, a visitor from Christchurch, who is prominently associated with many of the activities of the Methodist Church in that city. The principal business of tho meeting was the presentation of reports and the election of officers for the ensuing year. Owing to the absence of Miss E. Pearce, the correspondence secretary, on account of family bereavement, her resume of the reports of the branches was read was Miss Jessie Buttle, while the general report of the auxiliary work was presented by Miss Ida Buttle, the minutes' secretary, and the financial report by Miss E. Arlington, the treasurer. All showed a satisfactory advance. It was stated that the auxiliary had eighteen branches with a membership of 605. The total income raised during the year stood at £539 6s 6d. Under the direction of Miss Reid, boxes containing goods to the value of £BO were ready packed, while others awaited completion. The election of officers resulted in the unanimous re-election of the retiring officers for a further term of service, with the addition of several new officers. During the afternoon enjoyable musical items were contributed by the " Kurahuna " girls. These Maori scholars also had charge of a stall of miscellaneous articles, many of which were their own handiwork. The proceeds from this effort were the -voluntary contribution of " Kurahuna " for the work of the auxiliary.
