Mrs. F. Fitchett left yesterday on a visit to Murray's Bay. Mrs. Ebon Wilson has returned to Hamilton from Botorua. Mrs. J. O'Brien, Ascot Avenue, Devonport, has left for Oamaru. Mrs. F. 1). Pinfold has returned to Hamilton from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. R. Humphries, of Takapuna, is spending a holiday in Taranaki and ilnwke's Bay. Mrs. A. E. Sandford has returned to Hamilton from a six weeks' visit to Suva, Fiji. Mrs. Claude Kendall, of Hamilton, returned homo last week after having spent three months in Australia. Mrs. Ronald Webster, Benson Road, Romuera, is tho guest of her mother. Mrs. E. V, Bovan, in Wellington. Mrs. N. Radcliff, of Hamilton, and Mrs. C. F. Buddie, of Auckland, are at the Esplanado Hotel, Devonport. Mrs. F. G. Carthow, of New Plymouth, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Keith Angus, Frater Avenue, Takapuna. Mrs. D. I{. Abernethy has returned to Matamata after spending several weeks with her brother, Mr. E. B. Waddington, of Napier. Miss Mollv Kidd, of Remuera, and Miss Beryl Barry, of Green Lane, who have been staying at Brents, Rotorua, returned by car on Sundiy. Mrs. E. Tithcr, of Hamilton; Mrs. A. W. Lewis, of Wellington and the Misses B. and M. Solomon, of Auckland, are at Hotel Cheltenham. At tho Station Hotel are Mrs. P. Bunny and Miss B. Bunny (Masterton), Mrs. Upham and Miss L. Upham (Nelson), Mrs. R. W. Connor (Whangnroi), Mrs. J. Mann (Tauranga), Mrs. Kelso (Wellington) and Mrs. P. Phillip (Hamilton). A meeting of the New Zealanders Club of tho Y.W.C.A. was held on Monday evening, Mrs. Bethuno MeConnell prosiding. Tho programme arranged for the occasion was a talk on " My Birthplace," each member giving a description of tho town in which she had been born. Supper was served by tho hostesses. Miss I. Targuse and Mrs. | Macdonald.

Tho close of the To Puke Ward of tho Rotorua and Bay of Plenty Hunt Club season was celebrated with a dance in tho Paengaroa Hall on Monday night. The hall had been attractively decorated with streamers, gold paper horseshoes, Chinese lanterns and foliage. The prizes, which were won at the Hunt Club Gymkhana, held recently, were presented by Mr. I. Vercoe. deputy-Master.

The Takapuna branch of tho Labour Party held a plain and fancy dress dance at tho Parish Hall last evening. Captain W. J. Lyons presented the prizes for the winning costumes which were judged by Miss Chapman and Mr. Chandler. The carnival queen, Miss Joyce Taylor, was present. The ladies of the social committee were: — Mrs. H. Good (secretary), Mrs. D. Reid, Mrs. W. Hewitt and Mrs. G. Powle.

An evening was given by the Papamoa residents on Saturday in the local hall to Mr. and Mrs. George Whiteside, whoso marriage took place recently. Mrs. C. Riddel provided dance music and Mr. Orr Taylor was in charge of floor arrangements. "Jardoo the Conjurer" entertained the guests with his many tricks. A brief speech was made by Mr. Orr Taylor, after which a tea service and a set of glasses and a jug were presented to Mr. and Mrs. Whiteside.

After nine years as postmistress at Kihikihi, Mrs! Bowling recently resigned from the service, and will leave the district shortly. Members of the Roman Catholic Church in Kihikihi and neighbourhood, to show tangible appreciation of the esteem in which Mrs. Bowling and her daughters are held, arranged a social function in their honour at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Brill, St. Ledger's Road. The Rev. Father Fahev, on behalf of the residents, presented Mrs. Bowling with an eiderdown quilt, Miss Kathleen Bowling with a crystal dish, and Miss Joyce Bowling with a crystal vase, as tokens of high esteem
