Mataki (Murchison). —Last week, 470z. for 131 hours' dredging. Okarito (South "Westland).—Last week, 320z. 13dwt. for 112$ hours. Waipapa Beach (Southland).—Last week, 48oz. 15dwt. for 130 hours. - LOLOMA ASSAYS Lolonia (Fiji) Gold Mines, N.L., reports under date August 29:—Adit advanced to 131 ft.,' bulk sample assay 32<1 wt. ton. Crosscut at 94ft. advanced to 24ft., bulk sample 28dwt. ton. No. 1 shaft advanced to 46ft., bulk assay 3oz, 16dwt. ton. No. 2 shaft advanced to 65ft., bulk assay loz. ICdwt. ton. No. 4 shaft advanced to 25ft.., bulk assay 3oz. ton. No. 5 shaft advanced to 51ft., bulk assay ooz. 14dwt. ton. No. 6 shaft advanced to 25ft., bulk assay 9dwt. ton. No. 7 shaft commenced 75ft. north of No. 5 shaft down 12ft., bulk assay lOjdwt. ton.
REPORTS OF MANAGERS Blackwatcr (Reefton'i for August:— No. 12 level was driven 46ft. on reef averaging 30in. in width, 17dwt. in value. Trie limit of the main ore body in the north end of the mine has now been reached and driving has been stopped here. No. 11 level: The winze has been mink a further distance of 21ft. on reef averaging 30in. in width and 19dwt. in value, and the corresponding riso from No. 12 level to meet this winze has been 17ft. on reef averaging 36in. in width and 12Jd\vt. in value. The decreased output from tho mine for the month was due to the prevailing epidemic of influenza. Dawn of Hope (Thames).— The crosscut to intersect No. 1 and Is'o- " winzes has been advanced 10ft. J"® country rock penetrated is the usual type of andesitCj but is fairly hard to break.
