MAJESTIC THEATRE Well known for their musical comedy successes, "42nd Street" and fcho "Gold-digger" series, Warner Brothers have enhanced their reputation in their latest production "In Caliente," which will be shown again to-day at the Majestic Theatre. The story is of a young editor who is kidnapped and sent to the playground of Mexico, Agua Caliente, to rehabilitate himself, and his escapades there form great entertainment. Hollywood's latest dance, "Muchaeha," is presented by Dolores del Rio, and a bevy of Hollywood beauties. The cast also includes Glenda Farrell, Edward Everett Horton and Loo Carillo. CIVIC THEATRE The stirring epic of tho British Navy, "Brown on Resolution," with Betty Balfour. John Mills and Barry Mackay as the main artists, will bo screened again to-day at the Civic Theatre. The story is a striking tribute to PJnglish integrity, courage and initiative when under stress, and concerns principally the exploits of one A. B. Brown (John Mills) on a semiobsolete cruiser at tho outbreak of the war. Running through this gripping story of battle is the tender and simple love between Brown and his mother (Betty Balfour). To bo shown for the first time on Friday at the theatre is the hilarious comedy "Lady Tubbs," with Alice Brady, Alan Mowbray and Douglass Montgomery in tho leading roles. The plot concerns a camp cook who with the fictitious titlo of "Lady Tubbs" "crashes" Now York society, with hilarious results. REGENT THEATRE The vivid romantic drama, "Call of the Wild," with Loretta Young and Clark Cable in the leading roles, will be screened again to-day at the Regent Theatre. Tho story is one of virile action and of a romance between a handsome prospector (Clark Gable) and a society beauty (Loretta Young), whose husband has been lost in the wastes of tho Arctic. A highly dramatic situation arises when the husband returns unexpectedly. Excellent humour is supplied by Jack Oakie, while a splendid performance is given bv Buck, the St. Bernard. A hilarious Walt Disney cartoon also will be shown. On' Friday ope of George Arliss' most remarkable productions, "Cardinal Richelieu," will bo shown for the first time at tho theatre. The story concerns tho intrigues of tho famous cardinal's life and the court affairs of Louis XIII.

ST. JAMES' THEATRE The screen presentation of the Dickens' classic "David Copperfield" will bo shown again to-day at St. James' Theatre. One of the greatest castes that Hollywood has ever assembled for one film, including Lionel Barrymore, W. C. Fields, Lewis Stone, Edna May Oliver and Frank Lawton, portray some of literature's greatest characters. In this production, which should be seen by all, one has an opportunity of seeing Mr. Micawbcr, Uriah Hecp, Dan Peggotty and Copperfield himself. The millionaire actor-author-composer Noel Coward will be Been for the first time on the screen in the great stage success "The Scoundrel," which will be shown for the first time on Friday at the theatre. Playing opposite this well-known artist is the hitherto unknown actress .Julie Haydon, who gives an excellent performance as "the scoundrel's" lover. Other members of the cast include Hope Williams, Rosita Moreno and Martha Sleeper. PLAZA THEATRE Now in its second week and still attracting large crowds to each session, the weird drama "The Bride of Frankenstein" will be shown again to-day at the Plaza Theatre. The rolo of the monster is capably handled by Boris Karloff, while an excellent dramatic presentation of Dr. "Frankenstein is given by Colin Clive. Splendid technique is the keynote of E'sa Lanchester's portrayal of his intended mate, while magnificent restraint is shown by Valerie Hobson in the rolo of tho heroine. Another excellent performance is given by Ernest Thesiger as the evil scientist Dr. Pretorius, while 0. P. Heggie has the unusually difficult part of tho blind hermit who befriends tho monster. STRAND THEATRE Having completed a successful season at the Civic Theatre, the great musical success "Stand Up and Cheer" will be screened to-night at the Strand Theatre. The leading artists are Shirley Temple, Warner Baxter, James Dunn and John Boles. One of the greatest comedies that has ever been to Auckland, and which is also in its second season, "The Cat's Paw," will bo screened again tonight at the theatre. Tho well-known artist Harold Lloyd has tho loading role. This programme will have a wide appeal, ns it combines hilarious comedy and abundant action. BRITANNIA THEATRE Clive Brook and Ann Harding have the main roles in the drama "Gallant Lady," which will be screened at the Britannia Theatre to-night. The second attraction will be the comedy "Dandy Dick," with tho late Will Rogers as the principal artist. TUDOR CINEMA In the rolo of the suave Oriental detective Charlie Chan, Warner Oland has tho main part in the thrilling drama "Charlie Chan in London," which will bo screened at tho Tudor Cinema to-night. There is an excellent supporting programme. RIALTO THEATRE In response to many requests, a return season of tho musical success "Roberta," with Irene Dunne, Fred Astairo and Ginger Rogerfs as the main artists, will be opened at tho Rialto Theatre to-night. The second picture will be the drama "The Dictator." STATE THEATRE With Kay Francis, Warren William and George Brent as the leading artists, the romantic drama "Living on Veh'et" wdl bo the first attraction on tho double feature programme to bo shown for tho first time at the State Thoatro to-day. The second picture will bo tho drama "Tho Fountain."

LONDON CINEMA The well-known artist John Gilbert has the chief role in the enjoyable film "Fast Workers," which will bo screened for the first time at the London Cinema to-day. The second attraction will be tho drama "Guilty as Charged," with Edmund Lowo as the main player. CRYSTAL PALACE THEATRE The well-known Aldwych artists Tom Walls and Ralph Lynn appear in the farce "Fighting Stock," which will be shown at tho Crystal Palace Theatre again to-day. Tho second attraction will be the western film "The Arizonian," with Richard Dix as the main player.

ROXY AND TIVOLI THEATRES The romantic drama "The Cowboy Millionaire," with George O'Brien and Evelyn Bostock as the principal artists, will be shown for the last time at the Roxy and Tivoli Theatres to-day. The second attraction will be "Men of the Hour," with Richard Cromwell and Wallace Ford at the head of the cast. NATIONAL AND PRINCE EDWARD Novel in theme and background, the intriguing drama "Private Worlds," with Claudette Colbert, Charles Boyer, Joel McCrea and Joan Bennett at tbo head of a strong cast, will bo screened at the National and Prince Edward Theatres to-day. The theme is the narrow border-line between sanity and mental derangement, and the setting is a mental hospital. The second attraction will be the English murder drama, "Death at Broadcasting House," with lon Hunter, Austin Trevor and Mary Newland as tho principal artists. STAR CINEMA The main attraction at the Star Cinema is the drama ".Stamboul Quest" (Myrna Loy). Also being shown is " Bulldog Drummond Strikes Back."
