THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE SOUTH BRITISH STRONGER Business was very quiet on the Auckland Stock Kxchange yesterday, but a slightlv more confident tone was shown jn .some sections. However, several important issues still lacked buying support. Government loans were steady, but. 110 dealing took place. inquiry for banks was a shade stronger and New Zea lands were transferred Id higher at ">ls Id, but subsequently bin ers reduced their offers. South ~ British Insurances again unproved, a parcel changing hands 6d better at SMs 3d. 11l loan, and agency the. £ 1 paid and £2 paid issues of Farmers' Auctioneering were placed at higher figures, but the B preference shares weakened to sell at 21s Ud. Several upward movements occurred in industrials. Dominion Breweries were sought .VI better at Ids, but holders asked 9d irtore at lf>s Sid. Dunlop-Per-driaus gained SXI to sell at los 3d, but later inquiry was weaker. A rise of 3s 6d occurred in otter* for Berlei (N.Z.), while other issues to meet with an unproved demand were Colonial Sugars tnd Claude Neons (X.Z.).
