NEW WOMEN'S CLUB

A NATIONAL OUTLOOK

Two addresses were given on Friday afternoon at a meeting of the New Women's Club, over which Mrs. W. B. Darlow presided. "Has New Zealand a National Ideal?" was the subject of a talk by Miss Olive Foster, who said women, generally speaking, had no national outlook. She urged women to aim toward a wider outlook, remembering the basic principle that a nation could not rise higher than the level of its women and its education system.

A suggested national health service was the subject of an address by Mrs. W. T. Anderton, a member of the Auckland Hospital Board, who emphasised the need of disease prevention through good housing and well-balanced diet. "We must build a comprehensive, coordinated and efficiently planned health economy, with its objective and ideal clearly recognised and supported by the active co-operation of all sections of the community," the speaker said.
