TAMAKI CLUB'S SEASON DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES The Tamaki Yacht Club held its annual dance and distribution of prizes in the clubhouse, Tamaki Drive, on Saturday night. There was a large attendance of members and visitors, including the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, Captain N. Havashi, commander of the Japanese Government training ship Shintoku Maru, M. Sano, chief instructor on the ship, and also representatives from all the yacht and launch clubs on the Waitcmata and Manukau. The commodore, Mr. W. A. Wilkinson, welcomed the visitors, and paid a tribute to the services the Mayor had rendered the Tamaki Club and other yachting and sporting bodies in Auckland. The last season, said Mr. Wilkinson, had been the most successful in the history of the club, and now that the club had a home of its own it would continue to prosper. Six days were devoted to racing, nil events starting and finishing off the clubhouse. In addition to tho club's fixtures, the annunl harbour race for model yachts for a cup presented by the Mayor was also held in conjunction with several other clubs.

The Mayor, who is patron of the club, introduced the Japanese visitors, and they wero given a very enthusiastic welcome. Mr. Davis congratulated the club in possessing such a fine clubhouse, and eaid the thankß of the members wero due to the ladies' committee, which to a great extent was responsible for raising funds for its erection. On tho practical side of the sport the commodoro and his officers and committee had all worked for the good of the club and the sport of yachting. He wished to remind all present that in 1040 the Dominion would celebrate its national cennterary, and among other events it was to hdld a big regatta on the Waitemata. The time had now arrived when the question should bo taken up and a committee appointed to go ahead with the proposal. It was hoped to receive yacht entries from Australia. England and other overseas, ports. He had already had tho personal assurance of one or two Australian yachtsmen that they would compete with their yachts in Auckland at the centenary celebrations. The prizes were presented by Mr. Davis, th? most important being won by tho following Patron's trophy. Tomariki; commodore's trophy, Ivomuri; Kennick Cup. Sea Nymph; Hon. J. Alexander's trophy, Waiata; Captain D. McCrone's trophy, Marleno; Harrop Cup. Wluikawhero; Mr. L. J. Keys' trophy, Arline: Mr. F. Brown's trophy, Treasure; Messrs. Donaghys' trophy, Arline. Other first prizes were won by Treasure. Muimai, lolanthe, Opah. Whita Wings, Varuna, Atlanta, Sceptre, Salome, Mcmutu, Maneno, Namu, Nio, Valerie, Tamariki, Dtone, Maile, Surprise, Sirona. Swiftsure, Karoro. Benny. Tho Davis Cup, for model yachts, was won by Kauri 11., the champion flag in the 4ft. class for tho first boat to finish being awarded to Waitcro 11., and in the 3ft.. class to Miss Orakei. [n the rowing event the Nixon Cup was won by tho Waitemata No. 2 crow.

MANUKAU CRUISING CLUB There was n good attendance at the annual meeting of the Manukau Cruising Club, which was presided over by Mr. W. Claydon. Tho commodore's report showed a moat successful past season, and with tho number of new boats building, the coming season gave promise of being a record one. Reference was mado to the success of the combined races with the Manukau Yacht Club, and the. hope was expressed that more races of this nature would bo held. II was reported that the untiring efforts of Messrs. A. Somervell ond J. Keegan had enabled the club to complete its new clubhouse, The thanks of members was accorded all those who had assisted in this direction, and also ihc ladies' committee. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £3 13s Id on tho year's working, while the assets wero XI7G 15s 3d in excess of liabilities. Tho election .if officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. \V. J. Somervell; yacht handicapper, Air G. Dunning; motor boat handicapper, Mr. W. Cluydon; starter, Mr. J. Keegan: assistant starter. Mr. A. Christian; timekeepers, Messrs. ,T. Keegan, V. Matthews; moorings delegate, Mr. G. Smith; commit tee, Messrs. N. Foster, M. Jamieson, A. Insley, N. Whiting, D. Budgen, G. Smith, J. Keegan, jun., C. Winkle, G. Dunning; clubhouse captain, Mr. N.
