PUBLIC APPRECIATION FRIENDLINESS INCREASING An increasing appreciation throughout New Zealand of the services and purposes of the National Government has been noticed by Mr. D. Ardell, Dominion organiser for the National Political Federation. He is visiting Auckland to discuss organisation questions with the Auckland provincial executive of the party. It has been noticed by Mr. Ardell during his visits throughout New Zealand that the attitude of friendliness toward the National Government has markedly increased, and the development has been more pronounced in country constituencies, where many fancied grievances might have been felt a year ago. The party had been fortunate, in his view, to arrange for the co-operation of the supporters of the old Reform and United Parties. Regarding the approaching election, the many candidates offering in a large number of constituencies was a noteworthy aspect, and attention had to be given to avoid the splitting of votes on the part of Government supporters. The work necessary in this connection had been satisfactory, and another welcome consideration was the high standard of the candidates offering.
