EOOPE BOOSTER FINAL RICHMOND AND NEWTON BOTH TEAMS BELOW STRENGTH Fast and interesting football is anticipated at Carlaw Park to-morrow, when the final of the Auckland Rugby League's Roope Rooster knock-out competition will be played between Richmond and Newton. Richmond, which won the senior championship, will bo weakened by the absence with the representative team of Cooke, Fletcher, C. Satherley and Tetlcy and its usual good combination is likely to be somewhat upset. Dempsey and E. Briinble, Newton, will also be travelling with the Auckland team and their absence will greatly weaken the rearguard. Both clubs have some promising junior talent and an even and exciting game should result. The I'helnn Shield competition will be advanced a further stage to-morrow, when Devonport will meet Mount Albert as a cur-tain-raiser to the final of the Roopc Rooster. Both teams are evenly matched and the result is open. On the No. 2 ground at 1.45 o'clock Ponsonby will try conclusions with City and another close game is anticipated. Lower grade competitions will be continued. AUCKLAND TEAM'S TOUR Tho Auckland representative team left by train last evening for Wellington. It will play Wellington to-morrow and then proceed to the South Island, playing West Coast at, Greymouth next Wednesday and Canterbury at Christchurch to-morrow week. AUSTRALIAN TEAM THREE TESTS IN AUCKLAND A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Rugby League last evening, presided over by Mr. C. A. Snedden, approved the terms and itinerary of the Australian team's tour of New Zealand. The Australian Board of Control advised that Messrs. W. J. Chnseling (New South Wales) and H. Sutherland (Queensland) hnd been appointed joint managers of the visiting side, which would be captained by D. Brown. V. Hey had withdrawn and Norman, of New South Wales, would replace him as five-eighths. The team would leave Sydney on September 18 and play Auckland in the opening match of the tour on September 21. Mr. E. G. Kerr, honorary secretary of tho Referees' Appointment Bonrd of NewSouth Wales, advised that Messrs. J. and A. Latta would accompany the team as official visitors and, with the approval of the board, would act in any official capacity as referees should tho New Zealand authorities so desire. Both were active grade referees, having first grnde and country experience. Discussing the programme of matches it was decided that the Kangnroos should meet Auckland on September 21, a combined team at Wellington on September 25, and play tests on September 28 (Saturday), October 2 (Wednesday), and on October 5 (Saturday). Ground charges have not been finalised. The composition of the combined team nt- Wellington, for which Taranaki, Hawke's Bay, Northland, South Auckland and Wellington players will be considered, was left in the hands of the two North Island selectors. A number of communications were received from North Island country residents expressing interest in the Australian team and suggesting that the New Zealand League should endeavour to arrange railway excursions for the important matches. It was explained that the matter was already in hand. Saisfaction was expressed that the Auckland League had launched its representative team tour to the South, the chairman remarking that the South Island centres were very delighted with the enterprise. Reporting continued progress, the Wellington Rugby League referred to the interest created by the advent to the game of the All Black player, H. Lilburne. Mr. T. A. McClymont returned thanks for the many official and other tokens of sympathy received in connection with his family bereavement. Reinstatements wore approved as follows:—A. Currie G. Croft, T.
