QUEEN CARNIVAL

CORONATION CEREMONY The sum of £4BO was raised as the result of the queen carnival competition in aid of the Hamilton Rugby Union. Miss Zoe Faville, of Hamilton East, was the successful queen. The coronation ceremony took place in the Frankton Town Hall, there being a large attendance. The herald, Mrs. D. Gunn, wearing a suit of cream satin with red cape and red hat, announced the entry of the Hamilton queen and her retinue, who proceeded to the stage, which was arranged with three thrones. The Frankton queen and her attendants followed and finally the Queen of the Carnival, with her retinue, led by the queen's champion. The coronation ceremony was followed by a dance.

The court officials were: —Chancellor, Mr. J. S. Lynch; chamberlain, Mr. P. Kelly; herald, Mrs. D. Gunn; queen's champion, Mr. A. J. Cross; mistress of the robes, Mrs. H. Absolum. who wore black chiffon velvet with black train lined with white; mistress of the orb, Miss E. Kelly, wearing cream chenille velvet with red satin train lined with cream; mistress of the sceptre, Miss B. Foster, in olive green velvet with red train. The Queen of the Carnival, Miss Faville, wore a streamlined frock of crearh satin beaute with a slight train. The maids of honour. Miss G. Faville, Miss I. Sargent, Miss M. Marwood and Miss H. Stewart, were in frocks of daffodil crepe faille with green trains. Tho matrons of honour were Mrs. L. Monteith, who wore a gown of sea green lace and sea green satin train; Mrs. F. Runnerstrum, in primrose French georgette with rose lame train lined with gold; and Miss Elliott, in beige cire crepe with silver lame train. The gentlemen of honour were Messrs. L. Monteith, W. Cassidy and Turnwald. The page girls were Olwyn Porter and Billie Kellv and the queen mother was Mrs. Porter. The Frankton queen, Miss Kathleen Green, wore a frock of silver lame and the Hamilton queen, Miss Mavis Langlev. was in ivory cire crepe. Both were attended by picturesquely dressed retinues.
