SUICIDE OF PATIENT
MENTAL HOSPITAL DEATH The body of a mala patient at the Auckland Mental Hospital, Avondale, was found hanging from a tree in the vicinity of the hospital early on Monday morning. Deceased, who was a farmer, aged 49, was admitted on January 28. At an inquest held before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., coroner, yesterday, Geoffrey Blake Palmer, assistant medical officer at the Mental Hospital, said deceased, who had entered the hospital voluntarily, had been an. inmate during two periods previously. He had never shown suicidal tendencies. A verdict of suicide was returned.
