AUSTKALIAN AMATEUK CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES RESULTS OF SEMI-FINALS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received August 28, 9.5 p.m.) ADELAIDE, Aug. 28 The semi-finals of the amateur and professional golf championships of Australia were played to-day. Following are the results : Amateurs.—J. Ferrier (New South Wales) defeated W. Rymill (South Australia), 7 and 6. H. Hattersley (New South Wales) defeated R. Crook (South Australia) at the 37th. Ferrier was in devastating form. His card read 67 in the morning, which was two better than the course record and six under par. In the afternoon he reache'd the ninth hole in 33, which was the first time 27 holes had been done in 100, in an Australian championship. In the professionals' matches, V. Richardson (New South Wales) defeated Fergus McMahon (South Australia), 4 and 2. H. Boorer (Victoria) defeated W. Bolger (New South Wales), 5 and 4. WOMEN PLAYERS MELBOURNE TOURNEY BRITAIN WINS FOURSOMES (Received August 28 , 9.35 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Aug. 28 With a total 163 for 36 holes, Mrs. ,T. Walker and Miss Pam Barton (Britaip) won the Australian women's foursomes golf championship at the Royal Melbourne course to-day. Mrs. Greenlees and Miss Wade (Britain) 164. were second and Mrs. Sloan Morpeth and Miss S. Tolhurst (Australia) 170, third. Putting with great accuracy, Miss Mona McLeod (Victoria) led the field to-day in the first qualifying round of the women's open championship. She went round in 79. including six one-putt greens. Miss Wade (Britain) was second with 81. The next best scores were:—Miss Hood-Hammond (New South Wales) 82; Miss J. Anderson (Britain) 82; Mrs. Walker, 83; Mrs. Gibson Shaw (Victoria) 83; Miss Nankivell (Victoria) 84; Mrs. Morpeth, 84; Miss Barton (Britain) 85. Miss Barton failed through weak putting.
