VICTORIA CRUISING CLUB SUCCESSFUL YEAR RECORDED A very successful year was recorded in the report presented at the annual meeting of the Viotoria Cruising Club last night. Mr. R. Johnson presided, over a large attendance. The racing fixtures, the report stated, proved most popular, all events being well patronised and keenly contested. With the approval of Mrs C. Clare, donor of tha Clare Rose Bowl, class V competed for the ' trophy, which was won by Jewel, representing the Point Chevalier Sailing Club. No fewer than 47 meetings were held during the year and all were well attended. Prizo night was an outstanding feature of the club's activities and proved to He one of the most successful in its history. The thanks of the club were due to the patron, Mr. Ernest Davis, the vice-patron, the-Hon. Eliot R. Davis, M.L.C., and the president, Mr. W. L. Casey, for their generouß support, and also to Mr C. Dnwe for the gift of a handsome cup and miniature in memory of the late Mr W E., Utting. The clubhouse was in excellent condition, having recently been painted and renovated, and more use of it was now being made by members. The report also made reference to the deaths of three of its Messrs.M McGinness, W E Utting and H. Mennie. The statement of accounts showed that the financial position of the club had greatly improved 6ince last year. Instead of carrying forward a debit bnlnnce of £44 it will commence the coming season with a . credit balance of £49 The receipts included £3l from members' subscriptions, £25 from entrance fees, £3O from dinghy and locker fees, £lB from hauling-up and truck fees and £46 from funds raised by various members. The principal items of expenditure were £45 for cash | prizes, £29 for trophies, £27 for advertising, printing, lighting, stamps and stationery. The club's only liability is £25 issued in debentures. ;■ The commodole, Mr dE. Griffiths, 'said a; feature of the past sefison was that the club had turned a debit into a credit balance. There was no doubt that the club had now turned the corner and the prospects for the coming senßon were very bright. Morgan and D Dyke; auditors, Messrs. 0. Johnson and G. Parker; delegates to Auckland Yacht and Motor-Boat Association, Messrs. G. Mobberley and E. Culhane: general committee. Messrs. E. Culhane, E. Fitzgerald. G. Parker, Wf Tupp. sen., M. De Courcey, H. Henderson, J. Davidson. W. Cronin, W. Mclntyre. J. Lee, W. Rogers, J. O'Sullivan; treasurers, Messrs. G. Mobberley and G-. Parker. Messrs. W. Tupp, sen., and E. Culhrtno and W. Tupp, iun., were accorded a special vote of thanks f or their services in painting the clubhouse withotit expense to tho club.
