COMBINED HUNT MEETING ten in steeplechase review of the prospects The combined meeting of the Taranaki Hunt Club and the EgmontWnnganui Hunt Club will be opened at New Plymouth to-day, when tho chief event will be the Eginont-Wanna-nui'Hunt Cup Steeplechase, in which there is a field of 10 engaged. She was apparently injured during the trip across the Tasman, and will be unable to train for several days. THAMES JOCKEY CLUB FIRST PROFIT IN SEVEN YEARS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent! THAMES, Wednesday The report to be presented at the annual meeting of the Thames Jockey Club states that the finances of the club are in a sounder position than for many years. The receipts from all sources amounted to £5555 and the expenditure. to £5174 and after a deduction of £268 written off for depreciation a profit is shown for the year of £l2, as against the loss last year of £454. The chairman, Mr. E. J. Clendon, states that it is very gratifying to realise that this is the first time for seven years that the club has shown a profit on its year's working. The club provided in stakes for its annual race meeting £1239. The meeting was a successful one. For the two days £17,928 was passed through the totalisator, compared with £16,080 for the 1934 meeting. The race meeting resulted in a satisfactory profit of £373. The farm account for the last year returned a profit of £244 less farm expenses, giving a net profit of £l9l. The sum, of £63 was expended on course railing. The executive committee has ■under consideration several very necessary improvements for this year, including internal alterations of the stewards stand and the making of better provision for the accommodation of the press, judicial committee, and members. The retiring members of the committee are Messrs. F Adamson, n. R. ■Bush, A. Christie, E. J. Clendon, J. H. Ensor and J. McCormick, who have been nominated for re-election.
