THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE i GENERAL EASING OCCURS 'A general easing occurred on tho 'Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Turnover was much reduced and sale prices showed several sharp downward movements, while buyers withdrew in a number of cases. Government loans wero steady, but an advance of 10s was made by March, 1939-13, 3}, per cent stock, which was placed at £loo os. A fall of 4s 6d in English, Scottish and Australians on salo at £5 10s was a feature of dealing in banks. Commercials, which fell sharply on tho previous day, improved and sold at up to 16s 4d, a gain of 2d. Support for most insurances was withdrawn, and a fall of Is 3d occurred in South British, V'hich were/ released at 95s 3d. Support was weaker for most industrials. Further easing occurred in Auckland Gas, holders dropping 4d to 25s Bd, and buyers, after falling to 25s at the mid-day call, closed at 25s sd. The contributing issue had sale Is 3d lower at 19s 6d. New Zealand Breweries were done at 525,' a decline of Is on the last sale, while a similar easing occurred jn Woolworths (X.Z.), which were done at £5 17s 6d. A slight easing occurred in Wilsons Cements, which were placed Sd lower at 42s 3d.
