FAIB IN EASTERN ABEAS CHANGEABLE IN THE SOUTH The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, was as follows: —Pressure has remained low over and to the east of the South Island and has fallen further to-day, while an anti-cvclone covers the north Tasman Sea and northern New Zealand. The indications are for winds between westerly and south-westerly, but with westerlies predominating, moderate to strong generally and of gale force in places south of New Plymouth and Napier. Seas rough to high in "th o Taranaki Bight and Foveaux Strait rough on most of the west coast, else! where moderate but rough in offshore waters of the east coast. In the eastern Tasman Sea, westerly winds prevailing, moderate in the northern portion with moderate seas and strong in the southern portion with rough seas. The weather should be changeable in western and far southern districts, with scattered showers, but still mainly fair to fine in eastern areas. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST STRONG SOUTH-WEST WINDS The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald Inst evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Fresh to strong south-west winds. The weather for the most part is likely to be fair, but at times tfloudy, and some scattered showers are likely on the west coast.
