NEW WELLINGTON ROAD

SCHEME FOR OVERBRIDGE WORK TO COST £30,000 The Mayor of Wellington, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, has announced that negotiations between the City Council, the Railways Board, Unemployment Board and other Government and local body interests concerned in the provision of a ramped approach and ovorbridne from the new Thorndon waterfront road to the Hutt Road are proceeding very satisfactorily. He said he hoped finality would be reached 111 the course of the next few weeks, provided the other local bodies of the Wellington district could agree upon a reasonable contribution. Mr. Hislop added that plans were being prepared tor the final costing and arrangement of the work, and Hie had every hope that the terms which might bo arrived at woidd bo considered fair and reasonable. The present estimate of the cost was about £30,000, but the final probable figure would be announced later.
