ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
BAY OF PLENTY BRANCH PROGRESS IN FIRST YEAR [HT TEJiEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAURANGA. Saturday The first annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty branch of the St. John Ambulance Association, held in Tauranga.. was attended by 70 members. The Mayor of Tauranga, Mr. L. R. Wilkinson presided. Those present included Mr. C. J. Tunks, chairman of the Auckland centre of the association, Mr. S. E. Langstone, secretarymanager of the Auckland centre, and Mr. H. D. Cobb, district officer of the South Auckland district. Tho report stated that every aspect of the activities of the branch had been satisfactory. The ambulance work for tho year comprised 161 cases, the total mileage covered being 4320. Fees collected amounted to £77 10s. The educational side had received full attention, and the first-aid and. home nursing classes had resulted in the branch having two brigades at good strength in Tauranga. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr. L. R. Wilkinson; vicepresidents, Messrs. W. F. Sinclair and W. S. Harris; secretary, Mr. M. D. Laurenson; treasurer, Mr. A. J. Gallagher; auditor, Mr. E. T. Baker; general committee, Mesdames A. Grundy, D. Kennedy and P. Faulkner, and Miss K. Robinson (women's division); Messrs. J. Padlie, R. F. Ward, A. S. Dinsdale and R. Youngman (men's division), Dr. J. Mark and Messrs. J. R. Bongaard, L. Hume, A. L. Faulkner, E. T. Baker, R. H. Hay and J. R. Chambers. EPSOM NURSING DIVISION TRIBUTE TO EFFICIENCY At tho recent examination of the Epsom nursing division of the St. John Ambulance Association by the district surgeon, Dr. Neil McDougall, all the candidates were successful and were complimented on their high standard of efficiency. Complete satisfaction with the working details of the division was expressed by Assistant Commissioner F. J. Hutchinson, Lady Corps Superintendent E. Cammell and Lady Corps Officer M. McLeod, who carried out the annual inspection. 1 Tho Virginia Avenue Free Kindergarten is visited by a member of the division three or four times weekly, while tho Alison Henderson Linen Guild was responsible for the collection of an exceptionally large number of bandages and parcels of new and old clothes during the past year. Teams from the division took part in both the Hamilton and Auckland competitions with marked success.
