WELCOME TO MINISTERS
INTERRUPTED BROADCAST REASON FOR THE "CUTS" During the radio broadcast of the civic reception in the Wellington Town Hall to Mr. Forbes and Mr. Coates, transmission was interrupted on several occasions when interjections Avere in progress. The action of 2YA officials in cutting portions of the broadcast off the air was the subject of a certain amount of comment among listeners not only in Wellington, but farther afield, states the Dominion. A belief appeared to be current that the switch was applied in order to hide from listeners the fact that a j-owdv element was present in the hall. No official statement was forthcoming when inquiries were made, but it may be said that the Broadcasting Board makes no secret of tho fact that it claims the right to "censor" transmissions when desirable.
In applying the switch those in charge of the broadcast were simply carrying out routine instructions. However, the interruptions were brought about not because Mr. Forbes and Mr. Coates were being heckled, but because there is always a danger of " unrehearsed incidents " during the broadcasting of proceedings at public assemblies of all kinds.
