BIG FOREST FIRES
NEW BRUNSWICK LOSSES MANY HOUSES DESTROYED VANCOUVER. Au?. 20 A message from St. John, New Brunswick, states that at the settlement of Charnesey 25 houses were destroyed by a forest fire. Nine buildings were razed at Belledune. Two thousand men are fighting 60 bush fires throughout the province. Office workers and clerks are dropping their usual tasks to form a huge volunteer army. The fate of 15 men and three women trapped in & farmhouse at Charnesey is not known.
