YIiAR'S ACTIVITIES SALT HUT IMPROVEMENTS Reference to the improvement; i that iiavo been carried out to the Salt Memorial Hut on Scoria Flat Mount Ruapehu. by the addition of three rooms, is made in the annual lej ort of the Ruapehu Ski Club, to be presented at the annual meeting, which will be held at the Chateau next Wednesday. Regret is expressed that notwithstanding the club's representations, no further progress has been m< do with the road from the Chateau tD Upper Scoria Flat. It is reported that- further representations have been made to the Tourist Department in connection with the "erecvion of a telephone between the Chateau and Salt Hut as a safetv measure. In referring to the fact thai permission has been granted by" the Tongariro National Park Hoard for the erection by the dub of two huts on Mount Ruapehu., the report states that approximately three-quarters of n milo of tractor route has been formed for the transport of materials to t ie site of a building which is to be erected near the club's present Glacier Hutnext summer. It is stated that a club grading system is to be instituted Itaned on the tests of the New Zealand Ski Council, with the addition of a junior test.
