REQUEST FOR HOSPITAL
DEPUTATION AT PUTARURU [from our own correspondent] PUTARURU, Wednesday Stating that a cottage hospital is definitely needed at Putaruru to fulfil the wants of a district containing areas of afforesation lands and the Arapuni livdro-electric works, a deputation from the Putaruru Chamber of Commerce requested the Putaruru Town Board this week to make representations to that end to the Waikato Hospital Board. A report from the chamber stated that a hospital was needed for such cases as emergencies, accidents and certain medical cases, where a patient might be too ill to travel as far as the Waikato Hospital, but where hospital treatment was a necessity. The type of hospital required at Putaruru would be primarily a maternity hospital, with adequate facilities for other work, at least four beds being needed. After the deputation had stated that support was being given to the movement by the Tokoroa Progressive League and the Arapuni Medical Association, the Town Board discussed the matter in committee. It was decided to take no action, in view of figures supplied by the Hospital Board, but to hand this correspondence to the chamber.
