OBITUARY
MR. WILLIAM PRESTON [Br TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday The death has occurred in Cambridge of Mr. William Preston at the age of 70, following a prolonged illness. Mr. Prestcn was born in Cheshire, England, in 1865, and engaged in farming in Lancashire for about 20 years, before coming to New Zealand. He took up land at Horahora, which ho farmed until six years ago. In 18S6 he married Miss Nancy Anderton, who died 10 years ago. He is survived by one daughter, of Cambridge, two sisters and two brothers, all of England. His only son was killed in actiou during the war. MR. WILLIAM PROCTER [from our c\wn correspondent] WHAXGAREI. Wednesday The death has occurred at the Whangarei Hospital of Mr. William Procter, aged 63 years. Born at Burton, Yorkshire, he came to New Zealand in 1893, and engaged in the building trade in the South Island. Later he moved to Pahiatua, where, during his 15 years' residence, he was a member of the Borough Council and fire brigade. He came to Whangarci 27 years ago and set up in business. Mr. Procter took a keen interest in football, being president of the Horahora Football Club, and a vice-president of the Whangarei and North Auckland Rugby Unions. He held the rank of major in the territorials., He was also past chief ranger of the Foresters' Lodge. Mr. Procter is survived by a widow, one daughter and three sons.
