After falling in the morning and then remaining steady for some, hours, the barometer rose ,30in, last' evening. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 50 deg. Wellington.—The weather was cold, with a strong and squally southerly wind and brief intervals of sunshine, but for the most part it was cloudy. There was a shower of rain and some hail about 2.55 p.m. The maximum temperature was 44.8deg. Christchurch. —A boisterous southwesterly wind and heavy rain showers were experienced in the morning. The afternoon was sunny, but the wind kept the temperature down. The barometer was steady at 29.94 in. Dunedin.—There was a continuation of wintry weather. Heavy rain and shiet showers fell during the early morning, but periods of sunshine were experienced afterwards. A.fresh southwesterly wind prevailed and the maximum temperature was 47deg.
