Park, artillery staff officer, arrived in Auckland vesterdav morning. They are at tho Sta* tion Hotel. Mr. A. M. £?eaman left for Well, ington by train last evening to attend a meeting of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, of which he is a member. Mr. T. H. McOombs. the recently, elected member for Lyttelton, is at present on a pre-sessional speech, making tour of North Otago and South Canterbury in the interests of the Labour Party. Mr. F. M. B. Fisher, who was Min. ister 6f Customs in the Reform Ministry from 1912 to 1915. and who has been resident in England for many years, is now in Australia, and in. tends shortly to revisit New Zealand.
Canon C. V.' Pilcher professor of Old Testament literature at Wyckliffe College. Toronto, who has been visiting Australia, arrived at Wellington ou Monday, and will leave Auckland by the Niagara this morning for Vaneouver.
Mr. H. Holland. M.P. for Christchurch North, who was recently in. jured by a fall, is making good propress in hospital, but will prohnhly not he able to take his seat in Par. liament until the latter part of the coming session.
Dr. Roland Wilson, of Canberra, an economist attached to the Australian Federal Treasury, arrived at Welling, ton from Svdney on Monday and will leave Auckland by the Niagara this morning to attend a statisticians' conference in Canada.
Mr. A. Gffiyson and Mr. G. W, Hutchison, president and secretary respectively of tlie Automobile Association (Auckland), left bv car for New Plymouth yesterday morning to attend the annual conference of the North Island Motor Union.
" \ Viscount Blodisloe. formerly Gover-nor-General of New Zealand, and Sir Clutha Mackenzie, director of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind, were elected life members of the Auckland Institute and Museum at a meeting of the council yesterday.
Dr. A. V. Walkom, of Sydney, who is honorary general secretary of the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science, is expected to arrive at Auckland on September 3 to assist in making arrangements for the conference of the association to be held here in January, 1937.
Mr. A. A. Watson, of Sydney, Grand Sire of the Grand Lodge of Austral- '• asia, 1.0.0. F., arrived at Auckland yesterday by the Marama from Sydney, via Wellington, and later joined the Niagara on his way to attend tb<» Sovereign Grand Lodge session ' to be held in Atlantic City. United States, in September. While in Auckland Mr. Watson was the guest of the Grand ' Master of New Zealand, Mr. A. J. Guy.
