SERVICES TO EMPIRE REMARKS BY LORD GALWAY [BY TELEOHAPO —PIIE9S ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Wednesday Appreciation of tho part Now Zealand soldiers played in the South African War and the Great War was expressed by the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, when formally opening the annual conference of the South African War Veterans' Association to-day. His Kxcelli'iicy was warmly received by the veterans, who represented all parts ot the Dominion, and the announcement that he would become patron of the association was received with applause and cheers. Replying to tho welcomo the Governor-General said people at Homo had not forgotten that New Zealand took a prominent part in the South African and Great Wars to help the Crown. The support of the Dominions was a priceless a>?set to the Kmpiro.
