SYDNEY TO OSAKA
KINGSFORD SMITH'S FLIGHT ATTEMPT IN FEBRUARY TOKIO, Aug. 14 Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, in a radio telephone interview, declared that he expected his flight from Sydney to Osaka in the Lady Southern Cross next February would take about six days. The Tokio newspaper Nichi-Nichi telephoned Sir Charles at Los Angeles, and features the interview and details of the projected flight. For this flight, it is understood, Sir Charles will convert the body of his aeroplane for a carrying load of four passengers and baggage. In its present construction this single-engine machine, which can attain 200 miles an hour, accommodates two people only. It 'will be more than the usual goodwill flight. Sir Charles has ambitions of permanently linking Australia with Japan with a commercial air route.
