JOINT LAW SOCIETIES

EIGHTEENTH ANNUAL BALL A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION The fragrance and colour of spring pervaded the Potor Pan Cabaret last night when the 18th joint annual ball of the Auckland District Law Society and the Auckland University College Law Students' Society took place. A wealth of palo pink camellias, richlycoloured cyclamen and arum lilies decorated the orchestral dais, while slender vases of anemones were arranged on the small tables. Masses of flowering acacia and palms completed tho decorative scheme in the ballroom. In the supper room the tables were charmingly arranged with daffodils, cyclamen and maiden-hair fern. Theso lovely floral decorations were tho work of Mrs. J. Stanton and Mrs. G. H. Metcalfe. Tho guests were received by Mr. G. P. Finlay, president of tho Auckland District Law Society, and Professor R. M. Algie, dean of the faculty of law. Thev were accompanied by Mrs. I'inlay, wearing a frock of gold lame, and by Mrs. Algie, in parchment ciro satin.
