DEEP-SEA FISHING
NEW RESORT IN QUEENSLAND RIVAL TO NEW ZEALAND Within a few months deep-sea fishing resorts in New Zealand will have a rival in Dunk Island, on the Queensland coast between Cairns and Townsville. This resort is being developed under a scheme which the Hon. Hugo Brassey is completing in London. Instructions have already been given for the erection of suitable buildings on the island for the accommodation of tourists. The system of housing is said to be something entirely new. It is expected that the resort will be opened some time in October, when Mr. Brassey will have arrived with a large yacht. At the same time there will be a fleet of smaller vessels at the island, and every facility will be afforded for fishing and for visiting the Great Barrier Beef. . ~ The scheme has been received nit" enthusiasm by overseas shipping companies, while fishing tackle makers, are also co-operating by supplying technical advice. It is anticipated that many overseas tourists will be attracted to tne resort, which will offer some of the fines fishing in the world.
