MARGARINE FOR TROOPS
"BUTTER TOO EXPENSIVE" POLICY OF WAR OFFICE [from our owx correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday A statement that the British Army, Navy and Air Forces were supplied with margarine in place of Empire butter was made by Mr. C. P. Agar, de-puty-chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board, at a meeting of the convenors' committee of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, to-day. Mr. Agar added that the board was doing what it could to induce the War Office to change its policy.
Mr. T. C. Brash, secretary of the board, said the War Office considered butter was too expensive. A remit was passed asking the War Office to substitute butter for margarine.
