CIVIC LEAGUE
At r, meeting of tbo Civic League, presided over by Mrs. Kenneth Gordon, a, letter was read from the town clerk, Mr. J. S. Brighnm, stating that tho league's request, that more stringent regulations regarding the control of bicycle trallic in Queen Street should be made, had been referred to the Legal and By-laws Coinmitteo of the City Council to report on. From the general manager, New Zealand Hailways, word was received stating that the elimination of the more dangerous level-crossings and the installation of warning devices at other crossings were under consideration. The president read the July summary of the League of Nations Union and the monthly report of the National Council of Women. An address was given by Mrs. 8. Irwin dealing with economic conditions and [Jans for reconstruction. Considerable discussion followed.
