THROWN OUT OF CAR
MOTORIST SERIOUSLY HURT COLLISION WITH TRAM Thrown out of his sedan motor-car after being involved in a collision with a tramcar at the corner c»f Great South Road and Mapau Road' shortly before | six o'clock last evening, Mrf William , Herbert Yule, aged 57, widower, of j Sylvia Avenue, Otahuhu, suffered con- | cussion, fractures of ribs, and scalp '• wounds. He was taken to the Auckland ! Hospital in a St. John ambulance, and his condition was reported to be serious.
The motor-car, whitfh was driven by Mr. Yule, was travelling along Great South Road from the city, when it collided with the tramcar, which was proceeding in the opposite direction. The motor-car was swung round against the side of the tram. The force of the impact threw Mr. Yule out of the car, and he was found in a semiconscious condition with his legs under the tramcar. The glass of the left-hand front door was broken.
The accident delayed the trams on this route for almost half an hour, and at one stage there were sis trams lined up unable to pass the damaged motor-car. No one in the tramcar was injured. The motor-car was extensively damaged.
