WAITEMATA CLUB'S SEASON INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP . A marked increase in membership is revealed in the report to be presented nt the annual meeting of the Waitemata Boating Club next Monday. The report states that a brighter future' for the club is promised in the reduction of the club's overdraft by over £43 and in the credit balance on tint year's working. Ropairs to the boaiftouse were carried out during pust year, and a fund was Btartcd toward, the purchase of an eight-oar boat. The publication of tl\e club's history from its inception in 1553 was completed. A member of the club, R. B. Smith, competed with success at the Melbourne Centenary and Sydney regattas, and finished second to the Australian champion, H. Turner. in the challenge sculls at the former regatta. The club records with regret the denthi of Messrs. \V. G. Lowe, a vice-president for 32 years, and M. D. McGinnass, iv former, coach. . Congratulations were extended to the following members of the University eight which won the inter-university championship at Duiiedin:—O. .T. C. Mason, H. X. Lee, J. P. Hooper, G. C. J. Dal ton, P. P. Shirley, E. H. Soaly, E. \V. Henderson. The following places were won by club crows at various regattas held during the season:—Tauranga: First. maiden fours. Hamilton: First, maiden fours; first, youths' fours: second, pernor sculls (handicap). Auckland: First, niaidrn fours: first, youths' fours; first, maiden eights; second, New Zealand championship single sculls. Ngaruawnhia: First, maiden fours; first, maiden double sculls; second, senior fours. Melbourne: Second, senior challenge sculls. Iri inter-club events the club won the following trophies:—Powley Cnp, Camerdd Cup, Nixon Cup, Caro Cup. Mason Cup, Brett Cup.
