BICYCLE NOT A VEHICLE
BY-LAW CASE WITHDRAWN HAMILTON TRAFFIC INCIDENT [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Monday The question whether a bicycle was a vehicle or not within the meaning of the Hamilton Borough b.v-laws was raised in the Hamilton Police Court to-day when a motorist was charged with overtaking a cyclist on the Hamilton traffic bridge. Evidence was given that the motorist passed the cyclist arid caused him to press against the bridge' railing. The motorist said he did not know that the cycle touched the car or the rails. He was unable to avoid passing the cyclist, for had he driven more slowly than he did his car would have stalled and caused a traffic block. The case was held over until an answer had been obtained to the magistrate's inquiry as to whether a bicycle was a vehicle. Senior-Sergeant Lambert found that it was not, and at his request the caso was withdrawn.
