MANUREWA BOYS' BAND

PROGRESS IN FIRST YEAR x Keen interest in tho activities of tho Manurewa Boys' Band was indicated in the largo attendance at the first annual meeting held in Peglor's Rooms on Wednesday evening. Mr. J. H. Edwards,who presided, expressed the executive's appreciation of tho support accorded the band. The report stated that tho band had made satisfactory progress, and the total liability in respect of instruments had been reduced to £123. A social evening was held after tho formal business closed and a birthday cake, presented by Mrs. Montgomery, was cut by tho youngest playing member. Items were given by Mr. Edmonds, while Mrs. Edmonds played music for a short dance programme. Officers were elected as follow:—President, Mr. J. H. Edwards; executive committee, Messrs. H. W. Hood, T. E. Brown, C. Itau, H. W. Gillies, E. Kelly, Avery and J. M. Peebles; ladies' Committee, Mosdamos Avery, T. E. Brown, J. H. Edwards, J. Montgomery, I'\ Hall, F. Sincoek, P. Nield, C. Ban nnd Church, ami tho Misses Rail, Kemp nnd B. Masters. Mr. J. M. Peebles was re-appointed honorary conductor.
