THAMES UNION JUNIOR MATCH PROGRAMME [BY TEI/EGIUrH OWN CORRESPONDENT] THAMES, Thursday The weekly meeting of the management committee of tho Thames Rugby Union received from the Mayor an invitation to send representatives to a meeting tcr discuss the proposal to assist in rebuilding the Turua Public Hall, but it wnc decided to take no action, pending the receipt of further details of the proposal. > The Hauraki Plains Union advised that it would send senior A and B, junior and third grade teams to Thames on August 17, and asked for eonie assistance in tho matter of transport. It was decided to mako a grant of 33 1-3 per cent of the net gate to tho Plaiuß Union. The matches were set down as follows:—Johnston Cup match, juniors, No. 1 ground, at 1.30 p.m.; third grade. No. 2 ground, at 1.30 p.m.; senior*B, No. 2 ground, at 5 p.m.; Birch Cup match, No. 1 ground, at 3 p.m. The Waihi Rughy Union wrote talcing exception to the report that had appeared in the newspapers alleging that certain remarks were not quite fair and also protesting at tho comment of the Thames Union- on the cancellation of the home match at Thnmcß and the agreement in connection with the P<?ace Cup elimination game. As the letter contained a number of statements which were considered Contrary to the position, as understood by the members of tho union, the executive com* mittee was deputed to frame a reply to the Waihi Union, fully explaining tho viewpoint of the Thames Union. The following match programme for the junior representatives was adopted: August 10. club matches; August -7, v. Plains, Johnston Cup; August 21, A team v. Pnrnell, third grade B team v. Grammar Old Boys fourth grade; August 31, To Aroha, Johnston Cup; September 7, v. Wailii, Johnston Cup.
