MEDICAL MISSION

WORK AT NEWTON The Newton Congregational Medical Mission, Edinburgh Street, held its third annual meeting recently. Mr. C. Coonev presided. A comprehensive report of the year's work and activities was given by the secretary, Mrs. Hynes. It was stated that there had been a decided increase in several departments of the work. The medical clinic had been efficiently carried on by nurses of the St. John Ambulance Association, under the supervision of Mrs. Cammell and Nurse Bex. A bright spot in the work of the mission was the Mothers' Club. Ihe attendance of mothers had largely increased. At the close of meetings tea and biscuits were served. Some hundreds of children had been entertained during the year, and those receiving medical attention were served with cocoa and biscuits. The following figures disclosed the numbers who had received attention during the year: —Medical treatments, 1346; dressings, 1570; boots 222 pairs; hair cuts, 630; cups of cocoa served, 1350; cups of tea, 84o; children entertained, 2240.
