DEBATING CONTESTS
UNIVERSITY AND FORENSIC In the third round of the Athenaeum Cup debating contest, the UniVersity team, comprising Miss E. M. Johnston, Mr. H. George and Miss K. M. Harvey, defeated the Forensic Club team, Messrs. D. H Munro, G. Grant and H. Arthur,, by 266 point® to 239. Tho subject was "That Imperialism is compatible with Republicanism." The winners took the negative. Mr. W. H. Crocker was adjudicator. Miss E. M. Jolnston, Mr. C. Wrigley and Mr. E. X. Braybrooke have been chosen by actual contest in the preliminary selection of the team to represent the Auckland University College in the inter-university debate for the Joynt Scroll. Only two of those will be required to travel to Wellington for the contest. The adjudicators were Professor W. Anderson, Mr. L. Philippe and Mr. D. L. Algie. Victoria College at present holds the } shield, which is for annual competition.
