DAMAGES REDUCED
JURY'S AWARD TO FARMER VICTIM OF AN ACCIDENT [by telegraph —press association] WELLINGTON, Sunday Expressing the opinion that special damages for loss of goodwill and loss of crops came under the heading of general damages, the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, in a reserved decision delivered in the Supreme Court yesterday, reduced by £2OO the amount of the damages awarded by a jury to Charles John Duffy, a dairy farmer, of Makara, who was knocked down by a railway bus in Thorndon Quay on September 5. As the result of the Chief Justice's decision, Dufl'v will now receive £1066 Bs. which comprises £B.IO general and £216 8s special damages.
