COAL FOR UNEMPLOYED
MAYOR'S GENEROUS GIFT 1200 FAMILIES BENEFIT Through the generosity of the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, the families of 1200 men on relief work and sustenance in the city and suburbs have been provided since June with a bag of coal each. Altogether 100 tons have been dispensed in this way. The distribution was carried out by a sub-committee of the Metropolitan Relief Committee, consisting of Monsignor H. F. Holbrook and the Rev. T. Hallidav. Applications were invited, and every family which the records showed to be a deserving case received a share of Mr. Davis' gift. The coal was bagged and carted free of charge by J. J. Craig, Limited, and Winstone, Limited:
