Merry, has been granted leave of absence during the election campaign as Nationalist candidate for the Bay of Plenty. He is to find a suitable substitute, and if successful at the election ho will have to resign his position. Mr. Merry is also clerk to tho Opotiki County Council. DUNEDIN DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE WIFE OF A FORMER MAYOR [by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN. Sunday The wife of a former Mayor of Dunodin, Mrs. R. S. Black, has accepted nomination to contest ono of the Dunedin seats for the Democrat Party. Mr. Black has declined candidature for the National Party in Dunedin North.
