LARGE VOTE WANTED FOUR YEARS' PROGRAMME TOKIO. July 2fi The Asahi Shim bun says the Army •jrill submit to the Cabinet a national defence programme involving an outlay of £60.000,000 for four years. Of that total £3,334,000 would he devoted to doubling the Air Force, £13,333,000 to modernising the Army with the latest tanks, automatic rifles, machine-guns, motor transport, anti-aircraft equipment. and £13,333,000 to increasing the efficiency of the Army in Manchuria.
