ASSOCIATION NEWS
A large gathering of board, staff and committee members of the Young Women's Christian Association met on Fridav afternoon to bid farewell to Miss A." M. Bentham, the general secretarv, who, after six years' connection Vith the Auckland association, is resigning at the end of the month. A short time uras spent on "campaign'' matters, while short talks on the actiTities of the hostel, service and activities of departments, given by Misses McKeig and Cole and Mrs. Price, afforded a good indication of the splendid service the association is rendering the community. In presenting Miss Bentnam with a beautiful handbag, Mrs. A. D. Campbell expressed the board's appreciation of her administration as its executive officer. In replv Miss Bentham spoke of the happy fellowship she had enjoyed with the board and committees as well as with her many association friends. Miss Bentham leaves shortly for a prolonged trio abroad. Mrs. Edward C. Carter, whose husband is visiting New Zealand as general secretaiy of the Institute of Pacific Relations, was the guest of the president and board of directors of the Y.W.C.A. at an afternoon tea recently. Mrs. Carter joined the student branch of the association in the United States during her college days, and she has since organisation. At'one time she represented the United States on the world s committee.
